La Fouine’s real name is Laouni Mouhid. He was born in 1981 in Trappes, France, and raised in a city just outside Paris. His parents are Moroccan. He is best known for his song, "la Ferme."
His career had a difficult start at the age of 14. He sacrificed his education to start his rapping career, based on his imitation of many singers and rappers of the time. In 2003, he introduced himself as a freestyle rapper with the production of the first mixtape.
His depiction of his life’s events through song sets him apart from others in the industry, in lyrics like: “Peace on earth, Ma life, Du ferme, La fouine et Laouni, la fetes des mères and Quand je partirais.” These songs strongly reflect his life experiences.
With more than 100 songs and 14 albums in his repertoire, La Fouine is one of the top rappers in France. He was awarded the MTV Europe music award for best French act in 2013. He took the role of the Arab gang leader in the 2009 film District 13: Ultimatum, his first role as an actor.
The video for "Capitale Du Crime 4 (CDC 4)", which will be shot in Morocco, is his fourth of that name. Three have been released before it, since 2008.
