Rabat- Morocco has launched a preparedness and response plan for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), Abderrahmane Maâroufi, director of the Epidemiology and Fight against Diseases at the Health ministry, said Wednesday.
This plan is based on two measures: to prevent the introduction of this disease and detect and analyze the risks, Maâroufi told the French-speaking daily "L’Opinion".
Regarding the export of outbreaks, Maâroufi stressed the need to control the air traffic from West Africa countries, adding that a plan was taken with the Moroccan air carrier RAM to keep the same crew working on these destinations.
This crew, he said, will not take part in the rotation system and all its members were briefed to be vigilant and should report any suspicious persons to the commander of the aircraft.
The Health ministry has also implemented control measures at ports that receive cargo ships and at borders from West Africa, Maâroufi said, noting that check-up has been intensified at the entry of Mauritania.
Maâroufi also stressed that Morocco is not affected by the disease and there is no risk for athletes who are coming to Morocco to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup.
