Rabat - Russia's embargo on some western food represents a huge opportunity for Moroccan exporters, said Vyacheslav Khrulev, the Head of the Russian Economic Mission to Morocco.
"Morocco should take advantage of this embargo to increase its exports and provide processed foods," Khrulev said in an interview with the French-speaking weekly "Challenge," noting that Russia has received high demand from Moroccan operators in all sectors affected by the embargo.
The official said the list of products to provide to the Russian market includes notably fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and crustaceans, and preserved foodstuffs.
Khrulev also noted that the 5th joint Moroccan-Russian intergovernmental commission, slated for September 17th in Rabat, will be an opportunity to discuss the various forms of cooperation and joint action plans, particularly in banking, finance, investment, trade, aerospace, industry, transport and tourism.
"Among the areas of concern during this meeting is energy. We will discuss Moroccan energy projects that interest Russian operators," he said
A large delegation of the Russian ministry of Agriculture, led the Agriculture minister, will take part in the 5th joint Moroccan-Russian intergovernmental commission.
A meeting between the Agriculture ministers of the two countries is scheduled on Sept. 15.
