Cairo - Morocco and Egypt signed, on Saturday in Cairo, a cooperation agreement in the religious field for the implementation in the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 of the memorandum of understanding which was inked in April 2009 between the ministries of Islamic Affairs of the two countries.
The agreement, which was signed by Egyptian minister of Islamic Affairs Mohamed Mokhtar Joumaa and Morocco's ambassador in Cairo Mohamed Saad El Alami, is aimed at fostering consultations and sharing expertize in all fields of shared interest, as well as in terms of preserving manuscripts.
It also provides for sharing experiences in terms of translating Islamic books into foreign languages, exchanging Islamic books and research, as well as laws on Islamic affairs and endowments, and exchanging visits by experts in the said field.
The agreement lays provisions for granting scholarships to Egyptian students willing to pursue their studies in Moroccan religious institutions as Dar Al-Hassania, and organizing exhibitions on the sidelines of joints seminars held in the two countries.
