Rabat - German carrier Lufthansa will start Thursday its direct Frankfurt-Marrakech service with two weekly flights, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) announced.
Lufthansa thus expands its route network in Morocco after the Frankfurt-Casablanca service, the office said in a statement.
The opening of this new route is part of ONMT's strategy for developing the "strategic German market for Morocco's tourism sector," the statement added, noting that Germany is the world's second largest pool of tourists (over 50 million).
Under this strategy, ONMT aims to double airline capacity from Germany to Morocco by launching new flights in collaboration with other carriers (Air Berlin, Germania, Fly Niki).
Passengers will be able to travel Thursday and Sunday to Marrakech on the 168-seat Airbus A320 in both business and economy classes.
