Casablanca - Morocco’s head of government Abdelilah Benkirane said Monday in Casablanca that enterprise development of and improvement of business climate are among top priorities for his cabinet.
Benkirane, who was speaking during a meeting under the theme "Enterprise at the Heart of the Government's Strategy", said "in order to meet those priorities Morocco needs to engage major reforms in the fields of justice, administration, public finance, pensions, education and training".
For the Moroccan premier, these reforms will have a positive impact on businesses both in the medium and long terms.
Concerning business climate, Benkirane said his cabinet has taken several measures in favour of businesses, notably "the setting out of a national charter for judicial reform and administration modernization".
The government attached a particular attention to industry by launching a national industrial acceleration plan for the period 2014/2020 which aims to increase industry’s share of GDP by 9 points to reach 23 % by 2020 (14 % currently) and create 500,000 jobs, he recalled.
In the same context, Benkirane noted that his government under the 2015 budget draft bill will create a 3 billion dirham fund to support industrial development and investment.
The government intends to carry on its policy aimed at consolidating public investment, he added, noting that the overall investment budget in all public sectors is expected to near 189 billion dirhams in 2015, compared to 186 billion DH in 2014.
"Morocco aspires today, as HM the King pointed it out, to join the club of emerging countries, which requires from the government and all the stakeholders to work together and pool efforts in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation to the best interests of the country," he concluded.
