Washington - The unequivocal strengthening of US aid for development in the southern provinces also known as “Western Sahara,” as provided for in the 2015 appropriation bill which was promulgated Tuesday by President Barack Obama, enjoys a majority bipartisan support at the US congress, Peter Pham, Director of the Africa Center at the Atlantic Council, was quoted by MAP as saying on Thursday.
The Republican and Democrat parties support this bill which shows the clear will of the US legislative institution to set up partnerships for aid to development in Morocco, including the southern provinces, said Pham.
The 2015 budget clearly stipulates that the funding allocated under heading III of the US appropriation bill will be made available as part of the aid meant for the southern provinces.
The US expert added that the Congress asked the executive branch to inform it about the implementation of the aid to development for the southern provinces, as part of an approach aimed at carrying out its will.
