Rabat - Secretary General of the Popular Mouvement (MP) Mohand Laenser admitted on Tuesday the "political responsibility" of Youth and Sports Mohamed Ouzzine, a member of the MP, in the disruptions to a match of the FIFA 2014 Club World Cup resulting from the damage to Rabat’s stadium following heavy rains.
"The political responsibility is established and acknowledged, and we are waiting for the results of the investigation committee that was set up to take the necessary measures," Laenser said on Tuesday at MAP’s Forum.
"The Party will not support any of its members in decision-making positions who has been found guilty by an investigation committee," Laenser said.
"In case the Minister has made a material error or has been deliberately involved, the party will take the appropriate decision," he promised, describing as "fair" the decision made by HM King Mohammed VI to suspend Ouzzine from all activities associated with the Club World Cup.
Last Friday, the King of Morocco suspended Sports Minister from his duties for the Club World Cup on Friday and ordered an investigation into the state of the soccer field at Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat after embarrassing scenes of players from Mexican club Cruz Azul and Australian team Western Sydney Wanderers slipping and sliding through pools of water on the field of the complex that had recently been upgraded at a cost of US$25 million.
