Rabat – King Mohammed VI is expected to meet Sameh Shokri, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs on Friday.
The Egyptian chief diplomat will deliver a letter from the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to the Moroccan monarch in what appears to be an attempt by the Egyptian official to end the diplomatic crisis between the two countries.
The Egyptian Minister’s visit to Morocco comes in the wake of Morocco’s recent shift regarding the political establishment sparked by a Moroccan TV report describing President al-Sisi as “coup leader”.
It also comes less than a week after he gave instructions to Egypt’s ambassador to Rabat, urging him to act urgently to ease the tension between the two countries.
