Taroudante- Rachid Benmokhtar, the Moroccan Minister of Education and Vocational Training, said on Friday in Casablanca that new education reforms “will change the Moroccan school,” allowing schools to be able to a quality education and trainings equally to all citizens, based on the supreme values and principles of the country.
Speaking at a forum on the “New Moroccan School For The Citizen of Tomorrow: Visions and Priority Actions", organized by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morocco (CFCIM), Benmokhtar said that this project aims to prepare pupils, help them plan for their future, and contribute actively to building the country’s human capital
The new education project “Vision 2030? focuses on the mastery of Arabic and foreign languages.
Initiated under the theme "a new school for the citizen of tomorrow," the project, according to the Minister, will respond to the expectations and aspirations of citizens that will contribute to the development of Morocco.
The Minister highlighted some of the failures and shortcomings of the current educational system, including high drop out rates, a lack of students’ basic knowledge, the failures to teach languages, and teacher assessment and qualifications systems, noting, "The Moroccan school is not in tune with the environment."
The Minister added that the context of globalization and ease of access to information requires a review of methods of learning in Moroccan schools.
