Rabat - Head of government Abdelilah Benkirane said he is ready to step down if the investigation into the Tan Tan head-on collision proves that his cabinet had any responsibility for the tragedy that claimed the lives of 33 people, including children.
In his speech at the opening of the government council, Benkirane said he is awaiting the conclusions of the investigation launched by the Interior Ministry to determine what actually happened on Friday 10th near the city of Tan Tan.
Communication Minister and Spokesperson for the government Mustapha El Khalfi said in a press conference following the weekly cabinet meeting that "if the responsibility of a minister is proven in this accident, he will have to resign."
He added that an investigation into the tragedy is currently underway and whose conclusions will soon be made available to the public opinion.
