Rabat- Moroccan authorities foiled, Saturday morning, an international drug smuggling operation off Tangier.
The authorities intercepted a Sierra Leone-flagged cargo vessel and seized 9.3 tons cannabis extract in 356 packages , 25 nautical miles off the northern city of Tangier, Royal Gendarmerie pointed out.
“The suspects were arrested and brought to justice, while the investigation to dismantle the network continues,” it added.
According to official sources, more than 100 tons of cannabis were intercepted during the first six months of 2014 and 98 drug trafficking networks dismantled.
