The National Ports Agency to Call for Tenders for El Jadida Port

Rabat - A call for tenders has been launched by the National Ports Agency (ANP) for the development of recreational activities at El Jadida port located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco.

The port of E Jadida is almost exclusively reserved for fishing and seaweed gathering. The National Ports Agency aims to expand the port's operations to include recreational activities and the developing of convenient conditions to receive tourists and pleasure boats.

According to the National Ports Agency, "the city of El Jadida enjoys a strategic position and its old port (restructured in 2012) also benefits from a good position, between the city center, the beach and the Portuguese city, and is easily accessible."

The old port of El Jadida has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The city, about 90 km south-west of Casablanca, has great economic and tourist interest. In addition to commercial activities, a port providing recreational activities for Moroccan and foreign holiday makers is expected to boost the city's standing as one of Morocco's major tourist destinations.

The tender will call for bidders for market research, analysis of impacts and the different management scenarios. Preference is given to Moroccan companies. Offers of foreign companies will be increased by 15%. The developer of the project will be the National Ports Agency.
