Abdellatif Hammouchi the Moroccan General Director of National Security

Rabat - Abdellatif Hammouchi, Head of Morocco’s Directorate of National Security (DGSN), has given strict instructions to end nepotism in recruitment for the national security body.

Following his appointment as Director of National Security Body (DGSN) in May, Hammouchi has unveiled his plan to establish a strategic body for the maintenance of peace and security in the country.

He has said that policemen will no longer be hired by any means of nepotism, adding that only “competence will qualify candidates to wear the police uniform.”

Hammouchi made this statement during a recent meeting about recruitment within the national security body, according to Daily Assabah newspaper.

The DGSN‘s new director went on to add that access to posts within the national security body should be done only through a competition.

This move is intended to do justice to hundreds of thousands of highly qualified Moroccan youth who can’t find a decent job because of nepotism in the hiring process for police posts.

The same measure will be put in place for receiving promotions. Only competence will enable policemen to be promoted, the same source added.

Hammouchi also ordered traffic policemen to respect the law, and show no tolerance with any breach of the Highway Code. He also warned traffic policemen against favoritism, saying they should treat all citizens equally, regardless of their functions or social status.

Hammouchi warned that any overruns or failure to follow these guidelines will be severely sanctioned by the DGSN.
