Rabat - A generous English Speaking tourist gave $50 to a local woman she saw on the road in a mountainous village in Morocco.
Touched by the scene of an old woman carrying a heavy load of grass on her back, the female tourist, who was sitting on the back seats of her car, took a photo of the old woman before she pushed down the window and gave her a bank note of $50.
The Moroccan woman took the money with a smile on her face saying, “Bismi Allah” (in the name of God) and moved on.
The driver called her and explained to her that the banknote she had just received is worth 500 Moroccan dirhams.
In Moroccan Arabic, the driver told her to be careful with the money exchange so as not to be tricked by anyone.
The old lady thanked the driver and the generous tourist, and kept walking her way back home.
Most women living in the country side have to go through the daily routine of mowing grass every morning and bring it home on their backs to feed their cattle.
