Geneva - Minister delegate for foreign affairs Mbarka Bouaida presented on Tuesday before the UNHRC the new policy initiated by King Mohammed VI in the field of migration and asylum.
This initiative launched in September 2013 shows Morocco's commitment to the management of migratory influx, said Bouaida at a UNHRC high-level panel on the promotion and protection of immigrants' rights.
The new policy is based on a human approach pursuant to national policy choices, our country's international commitments and respect of the rights of immigrants, she explained.
She recalled that the Moroccan initiative was commended and supported by all the partners of Morocco, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the EU, as pioneering and courageous in setting the example for the management of migration flows.
She added that the Kingdom launched last September an "African Alliance for Migration and Development", with the participation and support of several African countries.
