Geneva - Morocco is ready to join forces with the international community to put an end to involving kids in armed conflicts, said, on Thursday in Geneva, Morocco's permanent representative to the UN, ambassador Omar Hilale.
The diplomat was speaking before the UN Human Rights Council during an interactive debate with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on violence against children Marta Pais, and the Special Representative of the Secretary General for children and armed conflict Leila Zerrougui.
On this occasion, Hilale stressed that the Kingdom is deeply concerned about the situation of children whom are victims of serious violations of human rights in conflict areas where a climate of impunity prevails.
The report of Zerrougui underlined an alarming escalation of grave violations against children. This makes us call for action by the international community to adopt concrete protection measures and take firm action against those who continue to act in defiance of international law, he added.
