Rabat- The Global fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and Malaria extended Morocco USD 37.4 million to boost Morocco's efforts to control AIDS and TB.
The subsidy will help Morocco implement its national strategies to fight AIDS and Tuberculosis in the 2014-2016 period, says the health ministry which points out that for the first time, the Fund's support is expanded to consolidating the health system, with an increase of 74pc compared to the grant of 2011- 2013.
The grant, approved by the Global fund's administrative board which met on March 7, is part of the New Funding Model which enables strategic investment for maximum impact and provides implementers with flexible timing, better alignment with national strategies and predictability on the level of funding available.
The Ministry adds that its new approach has helped improve the rate of antiretroviral treatment coverage of HIV affected persons that reached 53pc, 6,464 patients treated for free by the health ministry.
Meanwhile, prevalence stood at 0.1 pc of HIV infection. Therapeutic success of tuberculosis treatement reached 85pc.
