Marrakech - The University of Cadi Ayyad in Marrakech will host the fifth edition of the Oukaimeden International School of Astrophysics program from May 5-10.
OISA is a thematic doctoral school program arranged by the High Energy Physics and Astrophysics Laboratory of Cadi Ayyad University. It is held every two years and organized by the United Nations, Cadi Ayyad University, International Space Weather Initiative (ISWI) and the Amateur Astronomy Association (3AM).
OISA is an intensive one-week program for graduate students and doctoral scholars considering a career in astrophysics. The OISA program is designed to provide lectures, informal sessions and practical sessions on the latest advances in the field of astrophysics. The program will explore common questions related to various areas of astrophysics and will also include an excursion to the Oukaimeden observatory.
This is one of the most significant scientific events for the Moroccan Physical Society. The goal of this program is to help the physics community train the next generation of scholars in astrophysics and encourage Moroccan researchers and students to join the ISWI program. This initiative focuses on developing the necessary insight to understand and forecast space weather.
This year’s theme is centered on space weather and solar activity and its impact on the heliosphere and near earth space, including the atmosphere, ionosphere and magnetosphere. The school will address the theories and technologies that are used to study these various environments, including the Remote Equatorial Night Time Observatory of the Ionosphere Region (RENOIR). The RENOIR experience is the fruit of a cooperation agreement between the University of Cadi Ayyad and the University of Illinois, concentrating on the understanding of variability at the nocturnal ionosphere and its effects on navigation systems and satellite communication.
The one-week event will bring in famous physicists from around the globe and collaborate with world-renowned academic partners, including EESA, the University of Illinois, CNRS, and l’Observatoire de Paris. OISA is an event that will leave a remarkable influence on young Moroccan physicists.
