Members of Jihadist Recruiting Cell for ‘Islamic State’ Before Rabat Public Prosecutor

Rabat - The National Judiciary Police Squad (BNPJ) brought, on Tuesday, before the public prosecutor at Rabat appeal court, nine members of a cell specialized in recruiting Moroccans and foreigners to join terrorist organization "The Islamic State," a legal source said. 

The offenders, natives of Tetouan, Fnideq, Martil and Fez, are sued for forming a criminal gang to prepare and commit terrorist attacks within the framework of a collective plot to seriously undermine public order by intimidation, violence and terror, funding terrorism and holding unauthorized public meetings.

 The cell's members will be brought on Tuesday before the examining magistrate in charge of terrorism affairs for a preliminary hearing.

The Ministry of Interior had announced in a statement that "as part of the proactive security approach seeking to fight terrorist threats and on the basis of investigations by the General direction for national territory surveillance, and in close cooperation with the Spanish security services."

"The BNPJ smashed recently a terrorist cell operating in Tetouan, Fnideq, Martil and Fez to recruit and financially support Moroccans and foreigners joining the organization of the Islamic State," he added.
