Casablanca- Casablanca authorities will set up a committee to raise the sub-Saharan immigrants’ issues and promote their integration in the Moroccan society.

In an information meeting, held Wednesday in Casablanca by the Wilaya of Greater Casablanca, with representatives of the associations of sub-Saharan immigrants in Morocco, the Wali of the Grater Casablanca region Khalid Safir said that a committee, made up of the representatives of many institutions concerned with the issue of immigration and associations of sub-Saharan immigrants, will be set up, adding that another meeting will be held next month to follow up the work of this committee.

Underlining the strong ties between Morocco and Africa, Safir said the meeting is meant to examine the ways to help these citizens integrate the Moroccan society and live with dignity.

The meeting, held in the presence of representatives of the Regional Committee of Human Rights, aims at promoting the integration of these immigrants, taking into account their social and educational expectations, as well as their regularization.

Representatives of eight sub-Saharan countries, namely Senegal, Nigeria, Guinea Conakry, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Central Africa, Gabon and Cameroon, attended the meeting, recalling the role played by their associations to help the immigrants and their families integrate the Moroccan society in general and the Greater Casablanca in particular.
