Casablanca - The judiciary police at the Mohammed V airport arrested, in less than 6 months, 74 people involved in attempts of hard drug trafficking from Latin America towards Africa and seized 260kg of cocaine.
In a statement to the press, chief of the judiciary police Abdelhadi Siba said that the apprehended people are of different nationalities and were nabbed during 17 operations between March 18 and September 11, in possession of a total of 260 kg of coke.
These individuals, including 8 women, are from 19 countries namely Nigeria, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, South Africa, Angola, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Congo, Cape Verde, Liberia, Portugal, Turkey, Brazil, Nicaragua, Peru, Guyana and Morocco.
They were brought to justice for international drug trafficking and were informed, under the supervision of the public prosecutor's department, of their rights under the code of criminal procedure in Morocco, including the appointment of a lawyer and contacting their embassies, the same source said.
