Rabat - Member states of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) re-elected, on Thursday, Fathallah Sijilmassi as secretary general of the organization for three years, said a statement by the foreign affairs ministry.
The reelection of Fathallah Sijilmassi for a second mandate confirms the leading role of Morocco on the Euro-Mediterranean and international scenes, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
It also confirms the sovereign's irreversible commitment to the emergence of a Euro-Mediterranean zone where stability and prosperity prevails, said the statement.
The unanimous support by all UfM member states for the candidacy of Morocco to lead the body show the dynamic of the work done by the UfM under the management of its secretary general, it added.
